Marco sat in the exact center of his own home Dojo. He looked around him, it was different being here now. The room had been enlarged and made ready for a new occupant. The walls were reinforced to withstand hurricane forces and any heat source in the millions of degrees. There were reinforced punching bags and meditation mats; Marco had even gone so far as to build a Koi pond and a meditation Zen garden just outside.
He stood in one fluid motion, rising from sitting to his feet with a simple grace. It was a self assurance that he had grown only recently. He had always been pretty sure who he was, but recently this had evolved to include a better idea of where his future lay. His thumb traced the ring, an original solid piece of diamond, forged with love and created only for him.
Josh had left and Marco had grown, even tried to move on; and yet it had never been quite right. When Josh had returned he had barely recognized him! Yet Josh had returned and Marco was never happier, he had his one true love; the heart and soul of his own life. He vowed to be strong enough and never to allow Josh to feel alone ever again. Not if he could help it.
So today he sat in the Dojo, thinking about his future. He wandered out to the Zen garden now and walked around it mesmerized as always by the simplicity and beauty of it. It was tranquil and he paced the perimeter serenely; not knowing for certain when Josh might show up, or indeed if he would today at all. But that was how it went, Marco loved the carefree nature of his boyfriend, and he wouldn't change anything. Instead he made his way casually around the path which circled the garden to the pond. He paused here to watch the fish... it was a good place to ponder anything which might be on his mind.
Today he had merely simple thoughts filled with happiness and ponderings of his future. Yet there was the distinct tinge of sadness mingled with great respect as he thought of Tourk. His mouth turned into a slight curve halfway between a smile and a frown. And the vivid images of the unexpected evening and side trip with Josh played out in their entirity...
